Apartment in Khar

This compact, 750 sq.ft. 2BHK designed in collaboration with Design Ka:Tha is a perfect blend of contemporary and traditional. The brief involved incorporating several of the client's family heirlooms and seamlessly combining them with the design to create a space where the old and new live in harmony.
Old furniture is given a modern twist: an antique, teak cradle is converted into a bookshelf and combined with a planter chair to create a cozy reading corner. Cotton 'rassi' framed by sleek wooden members creates a porous screen, adding to the Indian sensibilities of the apartment. Mustard-yellow Sabyasachi wallpaper with a cheerful, paisley pattern is used to compliment the brass artifacts. Traditional wooden printing blocks are used artistically to create a unique feature wall for the master bedroom. The overall mood created is contemporary with a subtle Indian charm.
